Painter of Battles

This photographic series is a work about war. About waiting in the battle field. The very moment before the conflict. Developed in military training areas, the images bring us closer to the figure of the soldier in the prelude of the battle. The march and the wait.

These are not action photographs nor is the photographer in a conflict zone. Nevertheless, the intention is to transport the viewer to the battlefield beside the soldier. The way in which battles are fought has changed. The soldiers, however, are still the same as well as the reasons for initiating a war.

This projects was inspired by J.M.W. Turner's landscapes, the fields of Jean-Fran├žois Millet and the sketches captured by Francisco de Goya.
