The first chapter of the NORDEN project has its roots in the photo essay FISHSHOT, developed between 2012 and 2015 by the photographer Javier Corso. A personal documentary work about loneliness, emotional isolation, and sentimental repression in Finnish society. These problems intensify when people start drinking to cope with them.
The excessive consumption of alcohol is present in more than half of the cases of suicide, homicide and gender violence. A deep-rooted problem in Finland that directly or indirectly causes a high number of deaths among the population. The consequences hurt the image of a country known worldwide for its quality of life, surrounded by idyllic landscapes, cold and darkness.
